My husband's ancestor Malco(l)m McDonald was married, as Widower, in Lewiston in 1820 to Mary McKenzie of Ferrintosh, Killearnan Parish.
He was born possibly 1795, (but may have been earlier, as there's not much time space between his lst and second marriages) and was a House Carpenter. No first marriage details.
Mary McKenzie was born possibly 1799, Urquhart, shown as being from Ferrintosh, Killearnan Parish, at time of marriage.
Malcom & Mary had two known children which I am sure of -
1. Murdoch McDonald, b. 1820/1 Glen Urquhart, d. 1874 Cullicudden, Resolis, R. & C. m. Christina Urquhart 1846; had 9 children, all born in Cullicudden. (In 1871 Census: Mary's brother Murdoch McKenzie
78 yrs. 'Widower/Annuitant/uncle' was living with Murdoch & Christina and their family in Cullicudden)
2. William Hughin McDonald, b. 1825 Urquhart - no further details confirmed.
(I have in 1881 Census: wife Jessie (Janet) McDonald (74 yrs. ! born Daviot 1807) and William McDonald, Master Carpenter, (56 yrs.) living 'Mid Connage Carpenter's House' - but don't know if this is correct William; his wife's age is a bit old in Census, but perhaps Jessie is not his wife but mother, in which case it would make him not the correct William).
Some of McDonalds descendants continued to be Carpenters/Cart-wrights, etc., right down to & incl. my husband's maternal gr.father Malcolm McDonald.
Can anyone help with any info. re early Malco(l)m McDonald and wives l & 2 (Mary McKenzie) in Glen Urquhart, and any other details? Have a McDonald relative in Canada also vitally interested. Ruth MacLeod, in Australia.

Hi Ruth
The IGI has dates of birth and christening for a Murdoch born Urquhart, Inverness and for William Hughin - both extracts. If you viewed the original OPR (on SP) there is a small chance that they might have some extra wee bit of detail -like where they were living, occupation at the time etc.
Did either Malcolm or Mary survive until after 1855? if so their deaths may give some extra information as their parents should be named, and if known by the informant, Malcolm's first wife should be named.
Best wishes
Lesley
The census should state relationship to head of the household - are they living with someone else as head such that the relationship between them is not clear? Have you seen the original page or are your relying on a transciption for the ages? That might be worth checking.don't know if this is correct William; his wife's age is a bit old in Census, but perhaps Jessie is not his wife but mother
