"Homer" on the Islands......

Post by ang » Tue Jul 26, 2005 5:36 pm

Hi All, Has anyone heard of the term "Homer"?
It was used to id children that had been fostered/adopted out to the Islands from the main land.
I am trying to trace 4 of these kids historys.I've found 2 of them on the Isle of Barra. But have no trace of the other 2.They were Cassidy's from Govan.
If anybody has any ideas I'd appriciate it. Thanks .
Ang.

Hi Ang,

When were these homers on the islands? What were their first names?

All the best,

Homers were on the islands from the 30's right through to the 60's.
Agnes & Joseph Cassidy, they were there from apprx 1930-1940.But Joe did come back & forward from the island to the main land.I've located info about them. Agnes is my husbands Grandmother. She died when she was only 44.So the family knew no history about her.
The other 2 were Margaret & John. They were younger & didn't go to Barra. So I'll have to do more searching for them.
Sorry that was a long speil.
