Hello,
I'm trying to trace any family members I may have. My grandmother, Catherine Morrison, domestic servant, gave birth illegitimately to my father, Edward Rithie Morrison at 12 Merkland Road, Aberdeen on 17/09/1910. When he was about seven they emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario with my grandmother. In 1939, he joined the British Merchant Navy where he progressed to Chief Engineer on oil tankers. After the war, he settled back in Britain. Meanwhile, my grandmother's name changed to Kate McDonald, so I presume she marries at some time. I have a photo of her with a J McDonald in Albany New York State where she emigrates and apparently runs a Painters and Decorators shop. I have photos taken in Albany with visiting sisters/brothers which I shall post when I find out how to. I have been told my father had lots of cousins.
Any information will be appreciated.
Catherine

Hi Catherine...
...and welcome to TalkingScot!
Unfortunately, we can't help you trace anyone who may still be alive and the only way I know of to trace forward would be by making a personal visit to NRH in Edinburgh or Park Circus in Glasgow and then start looking in telephone directories or on sites like 192.com, but perhaps someone will recognize your names and contact you by private message.
On the otherhand, you will get plenty of help with with those long since deceased, so if you have any questions with earlier ancestors, ask away.
Regards,
Anne H
