Robert Douglas

I am trying to find pictures or any other information on my Great Great Grandfather, Robert Douglas. He lived from 1844 until 1884. His wife, Martha Bell Marr, went on to remarry a William Shirkie. The children of Robert and Martha are George Garrett, William John, Mary Agnes and Sarah Whitefoot. The children I'm aware of from Martha and William Shirkie are Thomas, Elspet, Christina and Agnes.
Robert was a Newspaper Reporter, Temperance League secretary, and a Collections agent. He died in Glasgow (or just outside it). He had a son Robert who died at 18 months old and who was born in England along with his brother William John.

EDIT: Also born to Robert and Martha were Mary Agnes and Jessie. Jessie died at the age of 3 or 4.

Robert is a bit mysterious isn't he? The mother's name from his marriage and from his death don't seem to match and all I'm doing is circling at the moment!

MC in 1869 he has given John DOUGLAS cattle dealer dec'd as his father and Helen(which is then scored out) Mary DOUGLAS mn CURRIE(at least I think it's Currie) as his mother.

DC in 1884 his widow has given John DOUGLAS cattle dealer as his father and Mary DOUGLAS mn DAVIDSON as his mother and neither are noted as dec'd!

Also Robert and Martha had wee Jessie in 1869 Airdrie. She died in 1873.

I did find where Robert and William were born in England. I also found a John Douglas who was born in Scotland but living in Wales. He was a ship broker and married to a Mary. He was also married to a different Mary at the time of Robert's death.
Now you know why I'm seeking outside assistance here.
