I have a family of Mcphersons on my tree, the parents are John McPherson and Mary Colquhoun m. 22/12/1838 in Kilmallie. Their children were
Catherine b.1839
donald b. 1841
Mary b. 1843 who was married to John Fraser
Jessie b.1850
Ann b. 1845
Duncanina b. 1854 who I have managed to trace.
Could anyone help me trace any information on Catherine, Donald, Jessie and Ann.

Hi heaross
The best way to start off finding out a little more about them would be to follow them through in the census years, if you've not checked that already. They should be with parents in 1841 & 51 and some of them will still be at home in 1861 I expect.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi all, thanks for the information on Jessie. In the 1851 census I have all the children in question still with the parents in Corpach, Kimallia, Argyll. In1861 Ann and Jessie are still at home but Donald and Catherine have left. I can't find Ann, Donald or Catherine after that.

The age is off by 5 years on this one but that could be a transcription error.
1871 Scotland Census 1871 Scotland Census

Occupation: General Labourer
ED: 12
Household schedule number: 74
Line: 18
Roll: CSSCT1871_91
Household Members: Name Age

Matilda Robertson 25
Mary Robertson 13
Anabella Leslie 13
Donald McPherson 25
Mary Connel 26
Jane Grey 18
You could check Donald's age by viewing the original of this census on SP. Also, I'm guessing that the girls married and the only way to find them would be to do a search on SP of marriages. Given their birthdates, all are likely to have married 1855 or after. I'm out of credits for the month (already!) so I can't help you there!
Good hunting,
Carol

Forgot to mention also that if you are looking for Colguhouns, there is a family of them with Catherine b. 1779 and five sons all on the same page of the 1851 Census as John and Mary McPherson.
This could be Mary's mother and brothers.

Hello Heaross,
Probably nothing to do with your Donald but I'll post it anyway. I'm not sure how old this lot are although some of the names look exclusive enough to be able to find out if it matters. They're probably youngsters I suppose.
Aberdeen Weekly Journal, Thursday, August 4, 1881
THE SOCIETY FOR PROPAGATING CHRISTIAN KNOWLEDGE.—The following is a list of the successful competitors in the examination for bursaries given by the Society in Scotland for Propagating Christian Knowledge: —Grant A—1 Orkney, Shetland, and Caithness—William Allan, Stromness; James Rose, Sandsting; James J. B. Omend, Stromness. 2A —Sutherland, Gaelic-speaking parishes of Caithness (Synod of Ross)—W. J. Watson, Alness; J. K. M'Lean, Inverness; G. Henderson, do. 3A—Synod of Glenelg—Walter Macaulay, Gairloch (special—highest number of marks); Donald Macaulay, Kilmonivaig; Lymen Fraser, Glenelg; Donald M`Pherson, Kilmallie. 4A—Synod of Argyll—Alex. Holme, Lochgilphead Donald M`Lauchlan, Kilmichael, Glassay; David M`Michael, Graignish; and as only two candidates appeared in No. 5, and only one knew Gaelic, the lapsed bursary was given to James Mackinnon, Killian. 5A—Gaelic-speaking parishes of Moray, Perth, and Stirling—Lachlan Rose, Blair Athole.
