William & Mary Rodger - Why Can't I Find Them ?

Post by darylrodger » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:49 pm

Hi,

If someone out there can help me find these elusive ancestors, I will be eternally grateful!!! ](*,)

I'm trying to find William & Mary Rodger, parents of William Rodger born c.1799-1801 in Bothwell, Lanarkshire. William was a farmer, according to his son's death certficate. I can't find them on Scotlands people or family search, or find any siblings.

William's mother Mary maiden name was also Rodger.

Any suggestions as to where I should look ?

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi Daryl:

Do you have any documentation on William Junior, other than his death certificate? It may have some misinformation depending on who supplied the information and what their connection was, or even depending on their state of mind in the face of loss.

What is the source of the information of where William Junior was born? It could be that he was born or lived in one place, and have been baptised in another.

Is it possible that Mary may have had the surname Rodger from a previous marriage - perhaps a case of a man marrying his brother's widow?
