I have just joined the website and would like to say hello to everyone. I live in Ayrshire where I grew up and I am researching Ayrshire and Lanarkshire ancestors. The main surnames are Hill, Kay, Barr and Paton in Ayrshire (particularly Galston); and Johnston, Ritchie, Goligher and Elder in Bellshill. I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who may have research in common.

I'm not researching any of your 'names', but wanted to say hello and welcome you the site.

I've found the forum very helpful in my own research, so don't hesitate to post your family history queries, problems and the things that don't make sense - there is always someone able to offer advice and suggestions!

I can actually see Bellshill from where I'm sitting now - so if I can be of any help in identifying the areas where your relations lived, just let me know.
