G'morning, Hoping to find out how I can come up with family's deaths that occurred in the 1940's and 50's. I have approximate time frames.
Can I do this on line? Do I need someone to physically go into records?
They would all be in the Greenock, Clydebank area.
Any suggestions?

Greetin's Anna,
You can get the death records from Scotlandspeople on line up to 1954.
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
After that you can get information by visiting the new research centre in Park Circus in Glasgow or the Registry office in the district where they died.

I used to spend days through in Edinburgh at the Records Office, so with me being a Weegie, it is great to have the facilty in my home town and it is cheaper.
I have Haldane's in my line along with Maggie, who introduced me to this board.
I have every hatch match and dispatch of every David Haldane from all Scottish Records.

Deaths 1900's
Thanks for the info Davie. I will give it a try. I did try and get into SP the other day, but they don't seem to want to recognize my password and id name. It's been a while since using it. I had quite a few 'credits' to use up, but since it is all so NEW looking, maybe they have taken them away and I need to re-up with a new id and password !
I was about to quit doing ancestry. Maggie got me going again. Trying to help her out here in the States. Not too much forcoming at this point in time. But, will keep trying, for her.
My Haldane was David Muir Haldane, father of my great grandmother Martha Haldane McLean. The line goes back to Longnidrey (sp). I think Maggie's connection is with Martha's brother David. Who married a MacNaughton.
As ever,
Anna

1900 Deaths
Hello Catriona, Hate to be dumb, but what is a Contact form? When I go into SP, I only see where they will issue a new password( which I tried, and they didn't do), they are not recognizing any of my usable ID's. (those that I have used consistantly, on the sites that I frequent) I can't remember exactly which one I used for SP, but tried them all. (I think!)

Hullo Anna
Happily for you, with all these password problems you've been having, a contact form can be sent even without logging in.
On the Home Page of ScotlandsPeople right down at the bottom of the page is a button marked "Contact Us". It will take you on to the Contact page. Just follow the instructions thereafter.
Hope you get it all sorted out quickly.
Best wishes

Deaths 1900's
Thanks Catrional, It's been a while, but I did, finally, get the passwords, etc. straightened out. Unfortunately, I didn't find the deaths! I am pretty sure they died before the 'cut-off'. They are pretty common names, so they just give me a long list. Will need to go back into SP and try again, with new credits!
