I'm trying to trace information about an ancestor called Robert Young. He married a Janet Wardrop(e) in Glasgow on 7/6/1793 then moved to Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire and had a child called Robert born about 1/6/1800. At the time of his marriage he was a cornmiller and by 1841 his son was a flaxmiller but I can't find any references to more children or his death or his wife's death.

Thankyou Frances, I have an Ancestry subscription which has been fine for researching the English side of the family. but the Scottish side is proving more difficult because I'm finding Scotland's People hugely expensive to use if you're not sure of your facts to start with and there don't seem to be the same number of on line free resources that there are for some English counties. For example I transcribe records for Somerset on FreeBMD and Freereg and we're up to the 1930s in some areas having done all the earlier ones.
