GALLOWAY's of Roxburgh

Hi,

I am trying to locate any information on my Galloway family who I have traced to Roxburgh.

I know that Hugh Galloway (parents: unknown) married Elisabeth Milne (parents:John Milne & Alison Helliburton). Elisabeth was born in Melrose, Roxburgh.

I can only seem to find one son for Hugh and Elisabeth - Nicol Galloway born around 1816 in Melrose, Roxburgh. Nicol died 18 Jan 1855 in Melrose, Roxburgh. Nicol married Margaret Mabon on 23 Jun 1843 in Melrose, Roxburgh. Margaret died 6 Dec 1900 in Galashiels, Selkrik.

Nicol and Margaret had 5 children:
Janet Galloway born 26 Apr 1844 in Melrose, Roxburgh; death unknown; marriage unknown
Elisabeth Galloway born 18 Dec 1845 in Melrose, Roxburgh; death unknown; married John Shortreed and had 3 children
Margaret Galloway born 12 Sep 1848 in Melrose, Roxburgh; died 14 Oct 1849 in Melrose, Roxbrugh
Nicol Galloway born 13 Sep 1850 in Melrose, Roxburgh; died 17 Mar 1933 in Perth, Western Australia, Australia; married Frances Easton 6 Nov 1875 in Jarrow, Durham, England. Nicol and Frances had 13 children.
Thomas Galloway born 4 Jun 1853 in Melrose, Roxburgh; died 1930 in Melrose, Roxburgh; married Jane Unknown around 1890 in Melrose, Roxburgh. Thomas and Jane had 4 children

Nicol Galloway and Frances Easton are my 2nd Great-Grandparents. Nicol was also known in records as Nichol and Nicholas in his later life. Of the 13 children they had 9 died either at the time of birth or within a year of it. Their children that did survive childhood all married and continued the line - however for one of these children [William Bartholomew Galloway (Gallaway)] whom I can't seem to trace, I can only assume.

I will investigate this information further. It think it will be her as when their mother died Nicol and Margaret were basically cut out of the will because they had moved away from Melrose, whereas Thomas and Janet got everything as they were still living in Melrose.
