Tamar Faed - Born abt 1750

Post by StuartC » Thu Jul 22, 2010 5:58 pm

Have been down the Faed route before with tis family and got some interesting responses.

However, I am now looking for info on aTamar Faed b abt 1750. She married a John Thomson in
Dumfries, 3 Feb 1772. (where the Faeds seem to have originated)
I cannot find any siblings for her, nor children from the marriage.
With such an unusual name I thought it would have been relatively easy to find some info, however not
the case. I have been though Mary McKerrow's book on the Faeds but no luck. Also SP, but did not find
anything their either.
Does anyone have any ideas of where to look next ? Or any info on her?

Regards
StuartC

Hi Stewart

If you do a parent search on IGI spelling Tamar's surname as Fead
There are 12 entries comprising marriages and birth's haven't had time to have a proper look as I am at work

Hi BruceL

Just found today that she must have died in England, as I have found a link to her burial
certificate in the Bexley, Kent, Library Archives.

It gives her burial as 24 August 1833, at Kirkmichael. I am presuming that this is the Kirkmichael
in Dumfrieshire. I have requested a copy of the burial cert in the hope that it will shed more light
on her and why/how she died in England. The English death certs don't start untill 1837 so I am still
a bit in the dark. Censuses not much help either as they started 1841.

Hi StuartC,

You seem to have hit the jackpot in Bexley =D>
There's a whole collection of papers on various Feads.
Lucky you!

Best wishes,
Meg

Thanks to all that have replied in the past to my requests.

I did not find anything in the IGI search, but maybe I am not searching it correctly

I still have not found any parents, siblings or children from her marriage to John Thomson
in March 1772. He is listed as a Baker.

The info I found at the Bexley Library archives only gave her burial date at Kirkmichael as
24 August 1833. I think she was getting money from a will that was left to her by a Robert
Charles Fead who had property and land in that area.

I did pull the OPR marriage document (Sotlands Preople) for her and John Thomson, and to my
suprise there is another Fead married on the same day in the same place. He is George Fead
(1729 - 1815, who ended up being Lieut-General in the Royal Artillery) married to an Elizabeth Kirkpatrick.

Must be a relation somewhere along the line, but cannot find the connection .

Any help with Tamar Fead would be very helpful for subsequent ancestry conections that I have.

Thanks & Regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,
Re your enquiry about Tamar Fead. She is a sister to my 3 times great grandfather Lt. Gen. George Fead born Dumfries 1730-1815. They seem to have been married on the same day. George Fead and his families lived in Woolwich, they were a great military family. Yes she is mentioned in the will of Charles Robert Fead. I do not know a lot about the Thomsons. I do have a photo of a C. Thomson in a book of old family photos sent by a relation and he may be some sort of descendant.
