Hi Bruce:

ScotlandsPeople shows 6 records of marriage of Archibald McDonald, Male. Date from: 1 Jan. 1820 to 31 Dec. 1830 County: Perth. Have you had a look at these? If you specify Comrie parish, there are zero records, so he may have married elsewhere.

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/searc ... index.aspx

The IGI lists a sister:
Margaret born to Elisabeth McNaughtan and Ronald McDonald
22 MAY 1803 Comrie, Perth, Scotland
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true

Have you tried the census? Although the earliest is 1841, you may find him living with his parents or Margaret; or in their vicinity.

Hi Francis

Thank you for your interest I have been researching this family for a few years now and cannot get beyond early 1800.
in the 1841 census Archibald's parents are at Mailermore Comrie with them are from memory 1son 1daughter and a niece.
Archibald's father is listed as old soldier.
This whole family is one big brick wall.

If his Father is listed as an old soldier was he a Chelsea Pensioner? That's how I was able to track down my GGGGreat-Grandfather as his daughter's Death Certificate had him listed as such.I was able to pinpoint his marriage & her siblings some of whom I had dismissed as too long of a gap in between but turns out their arrivals tallied with his times at home.
With names like McPherson & Ross from Inverness you can guess how many needles I found!
Researching:SCOTT,Taylor,Young,VEITCH LINLEY,MIDLOTHIAN

Hi Joette

I have been on to Kew. I have a total of 4 records of Chelsea Pensioner's records all with the same name, all around the same age.
not one of the records mentions family. I found his grandson and namesake's army records on findmypast durring the world cup but his was due in the next tranche. I thought if I could track one of his older son's it may leed me to where he was born.
This family seem's to be split in 2 which could coincide with time spent abroad during the peninsular wars.
