Hi Herrie,
I see no sign of a death certificate for either Alexander or Helena on ScotlandsPeople. Do you know where Helena died?
Have you found them anywhere on the 1901 census? I see only one family group of Kesleys in Scotland. They are in Dalziel, so are almost certainly related to the family that you are seeking.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi all,
I'm not seeing them on the 1901 census either, but it looks like brother Hugh made a couple of trips to the USA. Wonder if Alexander and Helen immigrated?

Re: Kesley Godfrey Ebert
Searching at Ancestry shows a Mrs Alexander Kesley, jam worker at 31 Leonard Street in the 1915 Perthshire Street Index.

I had a search for her in an earlier edition (from Alan's link) PERTH - http://www.archive.org/search.php?query ... pe%3Atexts but no luck.
Like Andrew I cannot find a death at Scotland though.
What was Alexander's occupation Herrie?

Annette

Re: Kesley Godfrey Ebert
Annett,
He was a coalminer. I got the marriage cert and have been looking for the family on the 1901 census. Still can't find them!
Helena was born in Canada and she and Alexander were married in Blysthswood, Lanarkshire. Helena's mother was deceased and her father had remarried by this time and was living in Ayrshire as of the 1891 census. Haven't found them on the 1901 yet either!
Earlier today, when I was searching for Alexander, a public member story kept popping up for something on the Hill Farm Mine disaster, but I couldn't get it to download and now I can't find it again!
This one is leading a merry chase!

Back again,
Having dial-up is a lot like having a house with only one bathroom. Someone else always wants to use it when you are!
Helena's father and family are back in Glasgow by 1901. No sign of Helena or Margaret or Alexander there. Helena's father, Edward Godfrey was an Offal Batcher and an army pensioner.
No sign of her with step-brother Edward W. either. Off to check for sister Sarah and brother Robert, but I think she might just have missed the 1901 census especially if Alexander had already died.

Re: Kesley Godfrey Ebert
Was going to post the info on Helena's father along with his 3rd wife in 1901 (he died in 1902) but see Carol has given you that info.
What I would add is that a couple of people at Ancestry have extensively researched this family (but not Helena). Edward is buried at Sandymount which makes me wonder if the families were Jewish and maybe info could be found that way.
What I can't get my head round is how Helena (who's family of butchers appear to be fairly well off) met and married a miner.
Regards,
Annette

Carol,
Hopefully you'll be able to access this record at Ancestry. My sub doesn't let me view it.
A search for Margaret Kesley born 1898 brings up a school record or such like in the Schools, Directories and Church Records category.
Worth a look.
Regards,
Annette
