'Bobby' Bruce - What Happened To Him ?

Hi,

I'm trying to find a cousin on my mum's side of the family named Robert or 'Bobby' Bruce.
His parents were William Bruce & Abigail Jane Tedford, and he was born between 1896 & 1910 ish possibly
in either Old/New Kilpatrick or Partick, Glasgow. I have never heard of this relative before but my mum's cousin in the states
is asking about him and is sure of his existance. I've had a look on SP but can't see anything.

Can anyone help ?

Hi Daryl,

On ScotlandsPeople, you will easily find the parents marriage in 1894 in Partick. Ancestry's transcription of the 1901 census shows the family living in New Kilpatrick, with two sons and two daughters all born in Partick. None of the names are Robert, Bobby or similar. So either more children were born after 1901 or Bobby was a nickname applied to one of them. You can either continue the search on ScotlandsPeople (presumably from 1901 onwards), or wait until April this year when you can view the 1911 census and hopefully get more clues to Bobby.

Thanks for that info.

I'm hoping to go to Edinburgh next week to have a look at more births for William & Abigail, and to my knowledge I thought I'd found all their children a while ago so this new ancestor is news to me ! I know of a sister called Martha b.1908, so maybe there is another sibling still to be found. . .

It's a pity that the 1911 census wasn't released earlier so I could check to see if he was there. I'll just need to be patient until April.
