Looking for Lindsay

One of my given names is Lindsay, my three brothers likewise, I never did ask and now I'm wondering what its family significance is or was.

I can tell you that my grandmother was Elizabeth Lindsay Waddell b1867 in Carnwath. Her parents were Hugh Waddell b1825 Lesmahagow and Marion Dempster b 1823 Douglas. My father Walter Dempster Blackley was actually named after Marion's father but as yet I have found no Lindsay lurking amongst the Waddells or Prentices
