Looking for Wishart's 1735 - 1745 Scotland

Post by flyrod » Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:42 pm

Good morning - I am new to "Talking Scot" and looking for some information on Alexander and William Wishart believed born between 1745 and 1755. The two brothers came to the Miramichi in New Brunswick around 1775. A William Davidson(formerly called John Godsman) was recruiting men for his fishing and lumbering enterprises on the Miramichi. Davidson was born in Morayshire in 1740 and was recruiting people from this County as well as Nairnshire and Banffshire. A Christopher Wishart arrived on the MIramichi in 1820 from Middlebie, Dumfriesshire, indications are that he was a cousin of theirs.
Any help on the Wishart's would be appreciated.

[cheers]
Dale

Hello Dale and [TS_welcome]
One of our members was asking about Christopher just the other day-- maybe that's how you found Talking Scot?

Scott "scooter" has been researching Wisharts for years, so maybe he'll be along soon to comment.

In the meantime, welcome!

All the best,
Sarah
