Re: how is andrew murry connected to Sir Walter SCOTT
Hello sharn8,
Do you know when Andrew was born and who his parents were? I would start with that and try to trace his family in all directions until I came up with a Scott! Then one hopes it would be clear exactly what the relationship was.
All the best,
Sarah

Hello Sharn8,
This topic appears to have been well flogged here. I haven’t read through it and don’t know what conclusion they reached.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... c=539319.0
This book is a transcription of the Journal of Sir Walter Scott.
http://books.google.com.au/books?id=iAl ... 22&f=false
The page 249 entry for September 2, 1826, includes:
“Received a box of Australian seeds, forwarded by Andrew Murray, now head-gardener to the Governor, whom I detected a clever boy, among my labourers in 1812, and did a little for him. It is pleasant to see men thrive and be grateful at the same time, so good luck to "Andrew Mora," as we called him.”
Is he the Andrew Murray all this is about? If so he doesn’t sound like a relative. Maybe young Andrew thought he was like an uncle to him and said so and everybody else got carried away?
Hope that helps,
Alan
