Hi George
I assume you've seen your mum's death certificate as the info you have given matches it perfectly. She died in 1944 at age 22 and at that time her parents were still living. I searched for the death of her mother (your grandmother) and that is easily found using maiden name and married name in the search on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk You can view the certificate for a few credits expense. You'll learn that Hannah died in 1950 and who her parents were. Following on with this info I looked for the marriage of Hannah and William Woods and that is also easily found in 1910. Using their parent info you may be able to look for them in the earlier census returns prior to the time of their marriage. Births are only viewable online past a 100 year closure period so you'd have to order extracts or do research in person in Scotland to obtain certificates of birth for your mother or any of her siblings. Performing a search for any deaths of folks with one surname of Woods and mother's maiden name of Blair from 1910 to 2009 (as far as the online records go) you'll see that there are 4 results. Can't confirm that they were all siblings to Catherine but it is possible they were. One was named William. By looking at the 1911 Scottish census you will confirm that William and Hannah had a 6 month old son William at that time.
Hope this gives you a hand to get you started!
Best wishes
Jean
