Help with deciphering please.....

Hi All

I believe I may have found the long lost brother of my Jane Souter who arrived under a gooseberry bush somewhere in Tyrie.

To enable me to do a parent search on the IGI, and try to connect him to Jane, I'd like some help in deciphering William Sutor's mother's maiden name please.

I think I've managed to upload the image to the gallery

I'm seeing something like Gastney - thought I'd loaded the wrong cert!

Actually - I've just thought - I might have loaded another William Souter some time ago with a mother with the maiden name Veitch. Are you looking at the newest one? Moderator has kindly loaded the link now on my original message.

Is it me - am I going bonkers, or has Joyce's post gone?

Thanks all for your replies, its a tough one. Familysearch seems to be down right now or I'd try it with just William Souter father and Elspet (I think thats the mum).

Oh well, patience is a virtue.

FamilySearch is back up. They have the birth transcribed as WILLIAM SOUTTAR, parents: WILLIAM SOUTTAR and ELSPET CARTNEY.

Family search up again - its Cartney!

And on another son's (Thomas), spelt Cartnui.

Hmmm... but no Jane. Back to the drawing board.

I must admit I thought Carling too but according to the IGI it was Cartney.
