Anyone able to search Newton Green & Wallacetown cemeteries

Post by q98 » Thu Apr 25, 2013 4:31 am

Seeking BURIAL date & location for John McCREADIE, resident at 8 Allison Street, Newton, who died offshore Ayr Harbour on 2nd August 1879.

It has been brought to my attention there were/are two cemeteries in the vicinity of Allison Street; Newton Green and
Wallacetown. A burial at either would have been conducted probably in the 1st week of August 1879.

I have located relatives here in Oz and USA =D> and we are gradually putting the extended families lives together.

Hello Jim,

I’ll just add a link to a previous thread on this subject with a post by BritishPower about checking various Ayr cemeteries.

Nothing new but here’s the Glasgow Herald report of the accident. It seems I never previously found that in the BL 19C newspapers because half a year’s issues were missing. You have the Scotsman etc text though. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=Ma ... %2C2221235

All the best,
Alan

Hello again Alan, nice to see you are still inputting. Thanks mate. I've been hammering away ](*,) at this burial location since 2007 and only very recently was advised of those two cemeteries in close proximity to his residence.
