looking for COLLIGAN family

Post by heatherwalsh » Sun Dec 08, 2013 10:48 am

Hello everyone, my name is Heather. I am new to Talking Scot. I am trying to find information on what happened to this Colligan family. John Colligan married Margaret Kirk in 1820 in shotts. They had daughter Margaret born 1818 at shotts ironworks. Daughter Eleanor born 1820, shotts and son james born 1823 also shotts. This info was on the shotts history site and also family search site. I have searched Ancestry.com, scotlands people, and many other sites looking for any trace of them. I cant find them on any census, immigration, they seem to have just disappeared into thin air !!!! If any one can help with any information about them, it will be greatly received and appreciated. I am also looking for a marriage for a William Colligan and a Agnes Hale in Lanarkshire between 1833 and 1860. Again, any information at all will be greatly welcomed.

many kind regards from Heather

Hi Heather,

[TS_welcome]

Do you know for sure that John Hale and Margaret Colligan were married in Scotland? I see a record on the online IGI (familysearch) for the birth of a daughter to them in Belfast in 1867 - Mary Jane Hale.

All the best,

AndrewP
