I haven't been on here for quite some time, but recently my husband was given some old family photographs by his cousin. We took them to show to his father to try and identify some of the people. He did extremely well, as most people were his aunts and uncles, but one lady he was very definite about , he said she was called Furret Livingston! He had no idea where this name came from, but said that everyone knew her by this name!
Does anyone have any idea where this could come from? It possibly is just a nickname, and has nothing to do with her real name. The family were the Livingstons/Marshalls/Wilsons and were from Dumbarton if this helps. The photos were from about 1920 - 1950.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions!

Re: Unusual name
I tried a free name search for a Furret Livingston* but got no results.
I then tried just Furret (no surname) and got 1 birth and 2 marriages. It was the middle name of a male - too modern to post details.
Regards,
Annette

Re: Unusual name
Hi Morag:
Sorry, I missed that I checked 'broad metaphone' in female births 1890 - 1950 in all locations. As I have no active credits at this time, can't go further, but will send you a screen capture by e-mail.
There are a number of hits on https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi but it may take some serious effort to narrow it down, as they are often a s-t-r-e-t-c-h. But, there may be some related names that may strike a chord.

Re: Unusual name
Thanks for all the suggestions. None of the entries on Scotlands People worked out. I feel that 'Furret' was a strange nickname, and we will probably never work it out.
