GILLAN

I am searching for ancestors and descendants of THOMAS GILLAN and wife JESSIE (JANET) SIM of Alves, Morayshire. They three known children, JAMES, WILLIAM, and MARGARET, and probably a son JOHN. James, William, and John emigrated to New Brunswick. JAMES was born in 1785/1786 in Alves and died in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, 1875. He married MARY SHORTALL, native of Ireland, and I descend from their son THOMAS GILLAN (1827-1893) who married MARY ANNE DEIGHAN (DEEHAN). The name Gillan was also rendered GILZEAN, both forms of family septs in clan MacLean apparently. Any info. greatly helpful. Thank-you.

You can find three children born to Thomas Gillan and Janet/Jannet Sim in Alves, Moray on www.familysearch.org The only birth of John was to Thomas Gillan and Janet Dunbar in Forres, Moray.

What year did your family members emigrate? Do you have the travel records?
