My grandmother, Ella Francis Mollison, is the granddaughter of Robert Mollison, born abt. 1817 in Scotland. He married Isabella Wills, born abt. 1819; I have no record of the marriage itself but I believe it was in the 1840s. I can't tell from the records where they came from (everything I have just says "Scotland"). They emigrated to "Canada West, probably in the 1850s, and moved to the Pittsburg, Pennsylvania area shortly thereafter.
Does anyone recognize either the Mollison or Wills names? Just the little bit that I know of the family, I have to believe that they are lowlanders, not clan-associated, and probably miners or masons (the father, Robert Mollison, was listed as a stone cutter in PA).
The one clue I have is that my own great-grandfather (Ella's father) is Robert Taylor Mollison, and her brother is Robert William Mollison, and there are Johns in the family.
If this catches anyone's eye, and I can even get an idea of where they may have come from, that will help! Thanks in advance, Mary

Hi Mary,
![TS welcome [TS_welcome]](./images/smilies/TS_welcome.png)
I see one very promising family group in the 1851 census in www-ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk (pay per view).
Robert (31) & Isabella (26) and daughter Isabella (1) Mollison, and son-in-law John Will (16) in the parish of Liff, Dundee, (county of) Angus. Their birthplaces are listed on that document.
I wouldn't be too concerned at the ages being a few years out from what you were expecting. Ages on any of these documents have to be considered as approximate.
All thebest,
AndrewP

Hi Mary and welcome,
If you are trying to find that census on Ancestry.com, the surname is transcribed as "Melligan"
Best wishes,
Sarah
