Thomas Andrew Sim

Post by AnneM » Mon May 25, 2015 11:47 pm

Hi All

I am on a blatant and shameless scrounge. I am currently beginning a family tree for my grandson....on the paternal side, which has not yet been done. A lot of it I will, initially at least, have to do from Edinburgh, when I manage to get there, but if I can confirm that I have the right person for one great grandfather, I will be able to run that line back with some confidence through SP.

The great grandfather in question was named Thomas Andrew Sim. I believe that he is probably the person who was born on 16/07/1914 in Old Deer to George Sim, farmer, and Margaret Hay. He just creeps into the image online category, which means it is ok to post about him here. Unfortunately his marriage and death certificates are a few years too late to be viewed. A birth date of 1914 is consistent with what I know about when he died and at what age, but the birthplace is some distance from his known last residence. (I won't post the name of our Thomas's wife, great grandmother, as she died quite recently and was born less than 100 years ago.)

If by chance anyone is going in to the Scotland's People Centre or The Mitchell over the next couple of weeks I would be eternally grateful if they could please have a quick look at the death certificate of the person of that name who died in 1972 in Inverbervie and PM to let me know if it is the same person as the one who was born in Old Deer, with the parents given above. That way I will not waste energy and money chasing up the ancestors of T. A. from Old Deer if he is the wrong chap.

I will definitely repay any look up by completing an onerous task.
