Sarah Ann Ryan (Lyons)
Hello,I'm looking to find information about my 2nd great grand mother Sarah Ann Ryan.Sarah who was born and died on Oct 1859-1939 and believed to be from Aberdeen Scotland. Sarah married Thomas Lyons .Thomas was born and died on 25 Mar 1859-29 Aug 1931.Thomas was believed to be born in Ireland(County Donegal). Sarah and Thomas lived and thrived in Wilmington Delaware area.If anyone has any knowledge on their parents,it would greatly be appreciated,I am hitting a road block
on my family tree.

Hi mace334,
It looks like the spelling needs some imagination. This one looks to be your Sarah.
Sarah Ann Forbes RHYAN, born Old Machar, Aberdeen, 1859.
You can download her birth certificate on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk on a pay per view basis.
Her parents' 1856 marriage certificate can also be downloaded from ScotlandsPeople, and that gives the names of their parents.
I expect with this surname, you are going to find different spellings on different documents. They are RHYAN on the 1861 census (mother and 2 children; father away from home [wherever he was, he was not spelled as RHYAN]).
All the best,
AndrewP

Re: Sarah Ann Ryan (Lyons)
Do you know when and where they were married?
Finding a marriage certificate could help with more information for your search.
Nothing obvious popping up on Scotland's people.
Looking at Freecen the 1861 census is the only Rhyan sightings at all, your wee family and an Irish couple living in Bolton:
RHYAN Christina Wife M F 27 Agricultural Labourer's Wife Aberdeenshire - Banchory Old Machar
RHYAN James Son - M 3 Aberdeenshire - Peterculter Old Machar
RHYAN James Lodger M M 29 Spade Labouer Ireland - Kings County Little Bolton
RHYAN Sarah Dau - F 1 Aberdeenshire - Old Machar Old Machar
RHYAN Sarah Lodger M F 18 Ireland - - Little Bolton
Christina could also be Christian or Christain on previous census records.

Wilma,I wish I knew, I believe Sarah was married somewhere in the United Kingdom, exactly where and when is unknown. The only thing I have is documents from Delaware (her children s birth certificates ,census and where she is buried).

1901/1911 Census records are online (probably too late for you?)
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Try family search - they have many records from Ireland

Re: Sarah Ann Ryan (Lyons)
Wilma,Going over the documents,I have a 1900 Census from Delaware. The census states Thomas arrive to America ,on 1878.Sarah arrived on 1882.The census has their marriage date 1884,so assuming they married in the states.
