Ann Rodger neè Cross - When Did She Die ?

Hi,

I'm trying to find the death of Ann Rodger, neè Cross wife of James Rodger (Foreman Carter) I know she predeceased him, as his death cert states he was a widower when he died on 19 Sept 1870 in Calton, Glasgow. I've tried finding her & James in the 1861 census to see if she was alive but couldn't find them, although I have them in the 1851 census living in 439 Gallowgate, Glasgow. She was aged 52 yrs, and their daughters Mary 18, & Jean 21 were also living with them. She was born circa 1799 in Old Monkland, but can't find her parents names.

I've tried looking on SP for her death, but can't find anything.

Hi Daryl,

Like you, I am seeing no sign of a death certificate for her. I am wondering if she died before 1855. Have you looked for marriage certificates for the daughters to see if they say "deceased" by the bride's mother's name? With their ages in 1851, a marriage soon after 1855 is a hopeful possibility.

Hi Andrew,

I've had a delve on SP and found (I think) Mary's death cert. She never married unfortunately, and the names of the parents are unknown as a neighbour signed the cert. She was 76 yrs old, and died in Dunoon, Argyle. Her parents are listed as ? Rodger & ? Rodger ms ?, she was a former fish merchant which matches her occupation in 1851.

Still can't find her sister Jean yet, will keep trying.

Hi Meg,

Thanks for that link for FS, but I've already found a tree on Ancestry with this Ann and her parents and it doesn't match mine I'm afraid but thanks for looking.
