Hi,
I'm having some problem finding my friend's great-grandmother's death.
I'm trying to find the death of Mary Sweeney neè Wylie b. 18 Dec 1876 in Camlachie, Glasgow.
She was married to John Sweeney, who died in 1905 in Dennistoun, Glasgow. She was alive when her son married
in 1928 aged 52 yrs at the Sacred Heart church in Glasgow.
I've tried looking for her death from 1928 until 1955 in the Parkhead/Camlachie/Bridgeton area as this is where and roughly when
she thinks she died but without success. Her mother's name was Catherine Doyle.
I think she may have remarried after her husband died in 1905, as she was a young widow.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Daryl

Hi Daryl,
Her death certificate is there to be found on ScotlandsPeople. Don't input any place to search, age or any date range. Input only the names:
Surname: Sweeney
First name: Mary
Other surname: Wyllie [note the spelling, as given by her son]
You will get only one result. The certificate tells you that she was not at her usual (Glasgow) residence. Either her son got his mother's age wrong, or she was older than you have noted.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Andrew,
Thank you so much for finding her
my friend was adamant she died in the Parkhead area as that's where she lived.
I must remember that tip when I go to the Mitchell Library this week.
Regards,
Daryl
