Donaldson - Clydebank.....
My grandfather John Alexander Donaldson, was born in 1895 in Somerville Street, Clydebank, to Robert and Mary (nee Bogue) Donaldson. He had five sisters, and i would very much like to find out what happened to them, as i only ever met Molly - born 1901. She went to Canada, and i met her when she returned for a visit when i was a child. The others were - Effie born 1894, Ella born 1898, Gerty born 1908 and Louise born 1913. I think that Louise may also have emigrated to Canada at some point. Hopefully there is someone reading this who may be able to help!! Thanks

I couldn't find a Louise or a Gerty Donaldson, but in searching on the Scotlands People site for the death of Euphemia Donaldson birth 1894 +/-2 All records, there was one match.
Searching for the death of Ella Donaldson birth 1898 +/-2. All records,I found two matches. These might be worth looking at.
Best wishes

I have Donaldson family from Clydebank. Not my direct family.
I know a Charles and Elizabeth Donaldson went to Detroit, Michigan sometime in the 1920's.
His cousin John and his wife Alice Savage Donaldson came next to work at Ford's. Alice was a sister of my Grandmother, Catherine Savage Trainor.
6 of the 8 Savage children eventually moved to Detroit.
John and alice had 3 children, Ann, George and Jessie. George was born in Scotland. He is in Florida now. Jessie lives with a daughter but not sure where. Ann passed in 2002.
My Mom was Nancy Trainor from Clydebank, and she eventually moved to Detroit in the late 40's.Her Mom did stay in Scotland and another Uncle. I do have many cousins in Scotland.

Hi Karen,
Sorry i have not replied to your message sooner, not been able to access for a while! There might well be some connection between our donaldson "clan" . i know some went to Canada, so it is entirely possible that some also went to the USA.
Will let you know if i find any links.
Best Wishes , Carol
