Hi Kenneth,

There are three births in Cadder (which includes Auchenairn) which may be of siblings (going by the names) - Federick and Mary McKeachan born 1892 (twins?) and Colina Bell born 1901.

Regards,
Isobel

IsobelC, Thanks for response. If the people you have found go by the surname Mattock(s) then these folks may well be John Bell's siblings. John's mother being Colina (McKeachan) Bell & father Frederick Mattocks. John was born 1890 so he would be eldest with siblings in later years according to your findings. Does your comment re: twins mean that Frederick & Mary were both born 1892 as implied in your response?

Really appreciate the help I have been getting from you and others on this site. TalkingScots is a very fine resource. By the way John was married to an Isobel, they were my aunt & uncle, more like grandparents to the Stewart kids.

Thanks again very much for your help. Ken S

Hi Kenneth,

All born Mattocks. Frederick and Mary have sequential birth cert entry numbers in 1892 so assume they were twins. Checked deaths and looks as if they both died in 1892 as well.

1901 census for Cadder might give you a listing for the family. You can access this via the SP site.

Hi there. I've just joined TS and noticed your message referring to Frederick Mattocks and Margaret Hunter. They are my husband's gg grandparents. Alan (my husband) is related to their daughter Isabella born 29th June 1860 in Cadder. She married John Addie 2nd June 1882 and they had 3 children: Maggie Addie born 1884 Cadder; James Addie born 1887 Dalgety and John Addie born 1896 Auchterderran. James Addie married Georgina Hogg Brown 31 December 1923 and they had 3 children, Elva Florina Bell Hogg Brown Addie born 17 December 1925 (my husband's mother) Isabella Mattocks Addie born 1926 and John Addie born about 1928. I am in touch with John's sons although John himself died in 2003 (this family live in Australia).

I haven't gone further back than Frederick and Margaret but would be delighted to be in contact with you.

regards
Eileen
