MAXWELL/ RITCHIE /MCLEISH.....

Hi all,
I have been trying with not much success to find any information on my gg grandparents Andrew MAXWELL and Ann RITCHIE. They were married in Dundee , Angus on 26.8.1845 . Ann was the natural daughter of a George RITCHIE (farmer) in the Perth area , they had a son Alexander Cuthbert MAXWELL in 1843 , and a daughter , Helen MAXWELL my g grandmother about 1845. Ann died sometime between Helens birth and 1851 when Andrew remarried to Elizabeth MCLEISH . I have a copy of Andrew and Anns OPR wedding cert hoping to find some information regarding Andrews parents but to no avail. If anyone has Andrew in their tree or any information at all I would be most grateful.

Hi Alan

Sorry you've not had a reply to your post. I noticed on the IGI that Andrew Maxwell and Ann Ritchie's marriage appears twice - once on 26/8/1845 in Dundee and again on the same date in Perth. One would be her parish and the other is likely to be his. Have you looked for Andrew in Perth rather than Dundee?

Maybe you've already solved the puzzle!

Thanks for the email , its been quite a while since I have done any research on Andrew Maxwell , been chasing my Ross ancestors in Ross & Cromarty(nightmare). Will have to get back on track and start by looking in Perth area rather than Dundee as you suggest.

The reason I'm going through the older posts is because I'm putting off delving into deepest Ross & Cromarty after my own relatives .... it's a toss up Ross & Cromarty, Ireland, or the old posts - guess what won

I know exactly how you feel , I too am constantly switching searches , I have been trying to find my Ross relatives in deepest Ross & Cromarty' but my head became sore from banging against a brick wall ', had the same trouble with Irish great grandparents McEneny & McCullough , found them in Manchester , England , but can't find anything about their births etc in Ireland. I have been tracing English ancestors for a while so perhaps its time to try Ross & Cromarty Rosses again (UGHH!).

From the IGI here's all the Andrew Maxwell's between 1807 and 1827 in Scotland. If you could find his death after 1855 on the SP site, you could then work out the most likely birth.
