Many spellings for Bunkle.....

Post by Rach » Mon Dec 26, 2005 6:20 pm

A few days off from the family history has not cured my addiction!
A contact in Australia has just asked me if there were any specific periods when Bonkyl's spelling changed [i.e. the parish of Bonkyl/Preston]. I know myself that I have found the spelling different at times. Looking at the statistical account it does remark that the spelling varies over the years but isn't really specific. Please can anyone shed any light on this?

Many thanks, Jean, it gives a great deal of information which will be of interest but as you say it shows different spellings but no specific times. Perhaps it is one of these names which changed according to the recorder.
