tracing my family tree and exposed a few mysteries, my great grandfather was charles sandison macpherson from helmsdale, he married my g grandmother annie morrison on the 12th of january 1915 in dingwall, charles was shown as 21 years of age and annie 26 years of age and they both lived in invergordon, unfortunately the following year i have a death certificate for charles stating he died on 22/7/1916 at the naval hospital in invergordon, cause of death- internal ??? including ruptured kidneys as per verdict of jury, he is listed as married but no mention of annie by name, the death was registered by the fiscal on sept 2nd 1916, it seems very suspicious to me , can anybody help solve this mystery

You may well have already gone down this road, but thought I would mention it anyway.
Doing a google for "macpherson+helmsdale" brings up an A.S. Macpherson, Newsagent. Wonder if it might be worth your while contacting this person? He might have local information.
