looking for William Middleton.....

I am trying to find a birth or census record William Brown Middleton was born app 1827 Dundee Scotland I have his death certificate he died in 1900 in Australia the only info on it about parents is mother unknown and father Middleton was a master mariner also looking for a census record or marriage for William Mcintosh carpenter who married Jane thompson 1 of their children was Janet (Jessie) born app 1833 Glasgow Scotland Janet went on to marry William Middleton in 1855 in Australia any help much appreciated

Hi Annette I had a look at the IGI and couldn't find the marriage for William Mcintosh & Janet (Jane) Thompson (Thomson) don't know what Im doing wrong

Hi Lee,

mmmmmmm.........
I just put in William's name in the first name/ last name box and Janet's in the spouse.

If you put Jane, rather than Janet as the spouse on the IGI search, the record will not be found.

There is also an IGI birth for William Middleton parents Robert and Catharine Miller - 23 Jun 1825 Dundee. I don't think I would be much concerned that the name Brown is not included (it would be nice if it was there) - but would check other things e.g. Did your William have children called Robert and Catharine. If you can find a baptism for the parents, did one of them have a mother, maiden name Brown.

Hi Jack I have found a passenger list but not real sure if it's the right family as it says they departed from Liverpool they arrived Sydney 1834
Mr William Mcintosh Mrs Janet Mcintosh with Agnes.Alexander.Janet.Sarah and Thomas but there are no ages I do know that William & Janet did have more children in Aus the first 1 being in 1835 the ship was called Othello
