Alexander Manson c1782.....

Post by fmackay » Sun Jan 01, 2006 6:05 pm

Can anyone suggest where i could look for information earlier than 1782 in the Parish of Farr Sutherland and possibly Caithness? I would like to find out where Alexander Manson came from. Can find no trace of him in MI's for the Farr area as yet. I'm thinking this is a dead end.
What sort of records where kept then and where would they be kept?

Hullo Fiona

Have you tried the Sasines, held at the Mitchel or the National Archives of Scotland? They could be helpful if your ancestor owned land or property.

What about the Wills and Testaments on ScotlandsPeople? The search is free. You only pay to see the will and download it.

Have a good day.

Hi Catriona
Can these records be viewed online?
I will try them anyway, thanks
