George Mair.....

Post by Heather Lyon » Wed Jan 26, 2005 10:30 pm

Can anyone help me with information on my father's cousin George Mair who was a doctor I think in the Stirling or Falkirk area and was interested and involved in a group who supported euthanasia. He wrote a book (or a couple of books one of them called "Escape from Surgery". I think he had a brother who was also a doctor.

Any information appreciated.

http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchEntry has 18 second hand copies of "Escape from Surgery" available, one from a bookseller in Canada, but fairly expensive at Can$17.50, compared to £3 from a couple of UK bookshops, but you'll need to find out what postage will be charged if ordering from the UK.

The same site has over 25 copies of "Confessions of a Surgeon: 'I Practised Euthanasia...illegal and Unethical But I Still Say it Was Merciful'" with prices down to £1 (one pound sterling).

Hi Heather and Davie

Thanks for your helpful information. I have read Escape from Surgery but I did not know the titles of any of George's other books.

I have come against a brick wall in my search for the Lyon family so I thought that I might try to find some living relatives to help with my search. I remembered my father's cousin George Mair and thought that I could start with him or his family. I would be gratgeful if anyone else knows where his family are from I would be pleased to hear from them.
