Alexander Dingwall.....
Alexander Dingwall of Fodderty, DOB unknown. His son Thomas Dingwall is my G/G/Grandfather who was born in Fodderty on 18 May 1799 there may aslo be another son, Murdock born 15 Jan 1805 (not confirmed). I've been trying to find the name/dates of Alexanders wife and also the names/date of all the siblings.

Hello Piobreachd
Welcome to TalkingScot!
Your first question is a tough one!
I'm afraid I don't have ready answers for you but a couple suggestions....which you may or may not have already tried
.
First off....the IGI isn't going to spit out any wonderful info for you. A list of the births within a reasonable time frame of Thomas's with Alex. named as father includes
Mary 1794
Alexander 1796
Thomas 1799
Katharine 1801
Katharine 1802
Jean 1803
Murdoch 1805
John 1805
Fanny 1807
all these were recorded in Fodderty. So it's pretty obvious from the actual DOB's that there was at least 2 if not more Alexanders on the go producing children in Fodderty at the same time. And neither one chose to list a wife's name!
If it were me I'd be on google searching like mad for other folk looking for Fodderty Dingwalls!! As a matter of of fact there are quite a few out there....for example
http://www.jenforum.net/dingwall/messages/94.html
You might get lucky and find someone else looking for the same people.
Please come back and ask an easier question next time
Best wishes
Jean
