Descendents of William Muir -shoemaker- in Ayr.....

Post by Russell » Tue Jan 10, 2006 12:10 am

Hi everybody

I'm trying to find relatives of my son-in-law coming from the marriage of William Muir b 1871 in Stewarton to Margaret Currie b 1874 in Ayr.
William Muir had a cobblers shop in Ayr until his death in 1943.
They had 5 children
Mary McDonald Muir b 1896 who married William Blain in 1920 in Ayr
William b 1898 d 1898
Elizabeth b 1900 d 1904
Robert Currie Muir b 1903 who married Mary Paterson Campbell Higgins
in 1929 in Dalrymple (Station Cottages, Hollybush)
Annie Davidson Muir b 1908 d 1932 who married Charles Conn c 1931/32.

I'm looking for living relatives from either the Mary Mcdonald Muir/ William Blain marriage or
the Robert Currie Muir/Mary Higgins marriage.

Robert Muir was a butcher in Irvine at the time of his marriage.
William Blain was a miner at the time of his marriage.

I have tried without success to carry the lines forward but it was much easier to find the preceding 3 generations.

If anyone out there can make a link to either of these two families please PM me.
Principally I'm looking for a photograph of Annie Davidson Muir. :)

Don't really think I can say to you not to give up Russell :) I've a couple of shoemakers, but they're not from deepest darkest Ayrshire!

See you next week I hope.

Thanks for bringing this to the front again Liz.

Just one thing to add. Elizabeth Queen Muir (William's sister) married John Findlay the Gents Outfitter, Ayr in 1925. This was a second marriage. I don't know whether they had any family.

There is a man desperate to see at least a photograph of the mother he never knew.

I'll bring my Fife stuff with me, because I see you've got Mortons in Kilrenny. I've got a Nicolson woman who married a Morton in Fife - from memory I think he was a baker. Wonder if he's connected to the fabulous Morton's rolls??? Best rolls in Scotland ...
