Hi Bev and welcome aboard
I have looked into your enquiry and have found the following, most of which you may already have but if not, it might help you with your search.
The IGI at www.familysearch.org shows that William Sim and Mary Noble were married on 17th October, 1819 in Pitsligo, Aberdeen. Doing a parent search I could only come up with Mary Sim b 4/9/1822, James Sim b22/11/1820 and a submitted entry for an Elizabeth Sim born about 1835 all in Pitsligo. I couldn't find an entry for Christian with these parent names.
Children born to David Carle and Christian Sim were: William b1856, Jacob b1858, Mary Skene b1860, James Sim b1862, Thomas b 1863 and Alexander West b 1866 all in Fraserburgh.
William Sim's Death Certificate in 18/2/1869 at Pennan, Aberdour, County of Aberdeen shows that he was a sailor and fisherman and widower of Mary Noble (I wasn't able to easily locate a death certificate for Mary) and that he was aged 79 years. His parents you already know and the cause was old age and debility. The informant was his son-in-law and the name John (?). At a squint it could be Noble but I'm not sure.
Going further forward William and Mary's daughter Mary Sim died in 1909 at 18 Pitturlie, Pitsligo aged 87 years. She had been married to a William Sim so she didn't have to worry about a name change did she? The informant in this case was a Mary Ann Clark (Grand Daughter) resising at 3 Canal Lane, Aberdeen.
I can't help much on Christian Noble except that her birth date shown on the IGI is 22/1/1799 but lists her father only which is the information that you already have. If it's any help there was a marriage of a George Noble and Jean Masson about 1796 in Fraserburgh but again it is a submitted entry and it puts George's birth date at about 1765, Aberdeen. It may be worth your while looking into it.
I will have a look at some MI's and see if I can come up with anything else but in the meantime - happy hunting.
Cheers
Annette

William SIM/Mary NOBLE
Hello Annette,
Many thanks for your welcome words, prompt reply and excellent information on my William SIM and Mary NOBLE.
Do you have access to William SIMS death certificate? Or can you tell me where/how I can get one. I also need one for my Christian NOBLE who died on 17 Oct 1849 in Fraserburgh. She is the daughter of George Noble and ??? referred to earlier. I did look at the George Noble/Jean Masson marriage but can't quite make a connection yet, but I guess the death certificate will confirm this.
I have only just got back into research again, and have LOADS of work to do - once again.
Thanks again
Bev

For death register entries in 1855 and later you need to go to www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and spend a small amount of money to view, downlaod and print the digitised image of death register entries up to 1954. There's the same for marriages to 1929 and births to 1904, plus the 1891 and 1901 censuses, plus the equivalent for the 1881 census.
Alternatively, if you live within reasonable distance of an LDS Family History Centre then they will have or at least be able to obtain a microfilm for that year. I think that you can also order a photocopy from Salt Lake City, but you need the full LDS reference.
As for Christian NOBLE who died on 17 Oct 1849 in Fraserburgh. you'll need to find out if the kirk session records contain any info on deaths. See the links page on this site and have a look at the Aberdeen & NE Scotland FHS site, ........ see http://www.talkingscot.com/links/fhs-links.htm for the full list of FHSs.

Hi again Bev
David has given you all you need to know about searching and I can't elaborate further except to say that, in order to cut down on your pennies when searching at Scotland's People, when searching the Statutory Death Register for William Sim enter the year of birth as 1790 and only three entries appear. The one you want is William Sim, aged 79 in Aberdour, Aberdeen. Please let me know what you think that signature is of the informant.
Good Luck
Annette

William SIM death certificate
Hello Annette,
Yes, I took your advice and visited scotlandspeople site last night. AND I 'spent all my pennies' in the one session. I did copy down William SIMS death dertificate but I just cannot decipher the son-in-laws name, I thought it looked like Holst. I printed it off in 'negative' and still couldn't make it out. I will have to find a daughter who married John somebody .... now my next request is .... when/where did Mary NOBLE die? She was in the 1841 Census, and on William SIMS death certificate he was noted as widower of Mary NOBLE so she died before Feb 1869. Another big job ahead of me.
Thanks for your help, really appreciated.
