looking for MacDonald..immigrated to Canada around 184???...

Post by karen kozak » Tue Jan 17, 2006 5:51 pm

Am looking for a Kenneth Macdonald and wife Sarah Ann..Maiden name unknown..I know they immigrated to Canada before 1850 and settled in Brampton ont, there there daughter was born in 1852. then they moved to Toronto and opened up a shop along King St>>unsure what the shop was and proceeded to have to more daughters..Louise born 1860 and Ameila born 1854 from what i can gather they had a son Albert Edward Macdonald, I'm guessing born aroung 1846?? now weather he was born in Scotland or Canada unsure of this...But I think scotland and where in Scotland unknown, don't know where the MacDonald's came from/which part of Scotland. MacDonald's are as common as Smith...It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack..Also the name Kenneth is very limited unless it means something else..and the only reason I know this name is there daughter was written up in a newspaper article and stated her father's name....This is basically all I know and have except the married names of the children...Can anyone help to find them???? Thanks Karen

Hi Karen
Louise born 1860 and Ameila born 1854
I don't know what Canadian records are like, but would there be any chance that the mother's maiden name might be mentioned on the either of the daughters' birth? This might take you a step forward.

Best wishes
Lesley

Karen, I wonder if this information from the International Genealogical Index might be worth following up:

It's a submitted record.

Kenneth MACDONALD
b 11 August 1826 at Contin, Ross & Cromarty
d 17 April 1895 (no place mentionned)

Married Sarah WILSON in Ontario about 1855

Best wishes

I can't seem to find anything on them and if I'm not mistaken he was married when he came to canada... from what I understand..I've tried finding the daughters..I found Amelia, since she is my grgr grandmother and she married an Eddy..I found there listing and there children and I found Margaret, she married a Cleveland and found all her children, I found marriage notices ..but other than that nothing... this is another hard family to find..They are well hidden, Now I once found a marriage notice, but I can't prove anything on it, it stated that a Sarah Ann MacDonald remarried and her witness was a Mrs Eddy... So makes me believe that this could be her....If so she married a William Hueston Scotland, married Sarah Macdonald 60 London England Toronto..d/o of Benjamin and Mary MacDonald..Jan 5 1885 in Toronto Ontario..But than again it could be a cousin/friend anything...I guess this is call wishfull thinking...Thanks Karen
