Waters/Watters & Brogan family members in Glasgow area..

Post by AnneMT » Fri Jan 27, 2006 12:37 am

:D
I am researching the above names, among others, and would be interested in hearing from anyone with the same interest.

The Waters/Watters family lived in various parts of Lanarkshire, but mainly in Glasgow, in particular Parkhead. The Brogan family also lived in Glasgow area, but one branch lived in Motherwell. I have over 60 folk in Watters side and about 50 on Brogan side.

Hope to hear from anyone who may be related.

Hi Anne

Henry Watters GIBSON, a master joiner, m. Mary THOM at Carnwath 1847. (Mary was my gggAunt)

Henry’s parents were Alexander GIBSON, a merchant and Elizabeth WATTERS.

Haven’t gone any further back on this line but who knows, this info may be of interest.

Cheers

Bob.

Hi Bob,
Henry is not a name normally used in our branch of Watters, which, like our branch of Brogans originate from Ireland around mid 1800s. The most common names used in our family are Thomas and Peter.

I have details of other non-related members of Watters family. If I come across any info for your family, I will be in touch.

Hello

I also have Waters in my family it is my parental line John Waters was my grandfather his parents were Thomas Waters and Margaret Downie. In the 1891 census they are in Blackfriers Hutchenston Lanark.

My grandfather married a Frances Gray this was his second amrriage as his wife had died but I do not know who she was. They lived in Denneistoun that is where my dad was born in 1924 they later moved to Scotstoun.

Sorry Heather, doesn't look like there is a connection. The oldest member in my Waters line was born abt 1834 in Ireland. As yet, I have no info for his siblings.

John Watters in my tree, I have identified and contacted his family.
The two elder Thomas Watters are also accounted for. Family members born after 1906, I am still in process of checking, so cannot comment.

As yet I am not aware of any of your family details among the info I have collected over the years.

Good luck with your research.
