I1m still seeking any descendants from James Barr son of Neil Barr and Janet Nee Cameron( Greenock)
James married Sarah Boyd in 1896 and there were several children, hopefully, there must be descendants? if so, would you please contact me, James was my paternal grandfather, and there are lots of information I would like to know
I think James was involved in the Boer War in 1901, I am still researching that. He died in 1913
Still searching.....

Hello again Maud
How are you doing with your search for other relatives? Do you know where they might have been around the 1901 Census? If they married in 1896 chances are they would appear in that - worth a look on SP???

Still searching
I did look at the 1901 census for James Barr (my paternal grandfather)
he was most likely involved in the Boer War at that time, as he was listed as being a soldier reservist, his wife Sarah (maiden name Boyd) had with her then, son Neil age 4 and daughter Catherine age 5 months.
I have been trying to find out which regiment James could have been in, so that I could obtain his records hopefully from Kew The National Archives, but so far without success.
I do have marriages & deaths for his brothers and sisters as follows
Christina married 1903
Cameron " 1909 He went to Philadelphia USA in 1920
children so far known, dau Ann & sons Cameron & John
Peter Carmichael, married 1913 d.1942 his wife d.1951
Catherine Campbell, " (1) 1904 (2) ? died 1952
James married 1896 d.1913
his wife Sarah remarried to William Southon, died 1949
the informant on her death cert was Cameron Barr her son
he was then living at Mitchell Street, Greenock
The parents Neil Barr died 1921 and Janet died 1917
The above information re marriages & deaths, was obtained from the Scotspeople site
Eventually, when the piggy bank allows for it, I will have another search on the site to see what other info I can find, it does become a bit expensive unfortunately when I search for a large number of people, so can only do so when funds allow! being an OAP the pennies do`nt last long
I am also searching for my Grant & McCulloch line, so each time have to
decide how many of each lot to search for to make the credits go as far as I can.
I will not give up just yet, hopefully some day perhaps one of the younger descendants may discover an interest in family history, before I fall off my perch !
