HI, HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME, ON THE 1851 CENCES THOMAS COCKBURN AGE IS DOWN AT 59 WHICH WOULD MAKE HIS BIRTH ROUND ABOUT 1792, THE PROBLEM IS THEY SAY HE WAS BORN IN BERWICKSHIRE PRESTON, CANT SEEM TO FIND WERE THAT IS. HIS WIFE ELSPETH KAY WAS BORN IN RATHO, AND HIS KIDS WERE BORN IN FIFE. THANKS KATIE

Have you tried a search on the IGI?

There are two Thomas Cockburns born in Berwick around the correct time, one born in Duns.
