Bain family in Coupar Angus.....

Post by Hawkeye » Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:39 pm

Hi everyone,

I have the following Bains in my family tree:
Thomas Bain b 1816 Fortrose, Rossshire
m Elizabeth Christina Burns b 1823 Stirlingshire

children:
Elizabeth Chalmers Bain b 1845
Christina Lydia Bain b 1847
Agnes Carnegie Bain b1849
William Hamilton Burns Bain b1853
Margaret Georgina Bain b1855
John Thomas Bain b1858
Charles Stewart Bain b.1860
Catherine Jane Charlotte Bain b.1862

Thomas Bain was the Free Church of Scotland Minister in Coupar Angus in 1871, if that helps in any way.
I think they were quite 'well-connected' as they lived in the Free Church Manse in Coupar Angus for some years.

Any connections?

Thanks,

Lisa Hawkins.

Hello there Haweye!

And welcome if that's not already been done. You'll find this site a great source of help, inspiration and down right good cheer .... so feel free to ask questions. There are a lot of well-learned people on this site  and they're happy to help.

Some of my own ancestors come from the Fortrose area and some others are even ministers, both in the Secession/Free Church and the Church of Scotland. I came across a book about the ministers of the Free Church and will try to look up details of it later, in case you might be interested.

Anyway good luck and I hope you hear from someone who's related.
