Ohmigawd !!

One of those not totally unknown situations where the parents gave a girl a boy's name (the reverse is also not unknown :shock: ), or is that underscore suggestive of Archibalina ?

Ah well, at least she is having her moment now...I wonder what she was known as by friends and family? Archibald does not exactly lend itself to female sounding names.. any thoughts?
Cherry or Sherry maybe? Or maybe Ina if she was Archibaldina?

I found this one the other day. I was transcribing Aberlour 1861 and the name looked very like Charles Ann Glass, but she was listed as female in the census. She was with her mother, Margaret Duncan so I decided to check the IGI to see if there was a birth of a female with a name like Charles.

Found this!!

CHARLES ANN GLASS OR DUNCAN
Female
Event(s):
Birth: 20 JUL 1852 Aberlour, Banff, Scotland
Parents:
Father: ALEXANDER GLASS
Mother: MARGARET DUNCAN

So when, whoever you are, looks this up on Freecen, don't blame the transcriber for being a numptie. It's transcribed Charles Ann, female. I did try to find the wee soul a feminine name, but alas she is Charles.
