Margaret/Rita Frances Murdison/Toolan.....

Post by Lisa Thomson » Fri Mar 24, 2006 12:34 pm

Hi, I am looking for my Grandmother Margaret/Rita Frances Murdison/Toolan from Edinburgh Scotland.
I'm not sure if her name is Margret or Rita. Her maiden name is Toolan. She married my Grandad James Murdison on the 21st November 1953 in Edinburgh. They lived at 50 Cumberland Street Edinburgh. They had two children together <details of possibly living persons removed. LesleyB> If anyone knows my Grandmother or has any information at all please contact me, I have tried everything without success. :?:

Hi Lisa
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot. :D

Because your granny married after the dates you can view online at Scotlands People, you could contact GROS and buy a copy of the certificate.
http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/
This should give you her parents' names, her age at the time she married and the address she was staying at at that time.

Hope this is of some help.
best wishes,
Lesley

Hi Lisa glad you found your way to TS.it would be useful to have your Granny's Marriage Certificate because then you would have her "proper name".
Are you looking for her present whereabouts? Could she have died/remarried & particularly in Scotland. For such a recent event you would have to search in person at GROS in Edinburgh or have somebody do it on your behalf.
Would she have stayed in Scotland? A request to a local paper in the last place you know she lived may bring results or other relatives.

I think this might have been an old work colleague of mine-many years ago,try the surname of McQueen, as far as I know she is still in Edinburgh, if it is her. Good Luck

Hello Angel Helper and [TS_welcome]
How nice that you may have recognized the person some of our members were looking for!

I see that neither Lisa nor Kate have been on the forum for several years, so they may not see your post. If you don't hear soon, then I would suggest sending them a pm by clicking on the button next to their posts. If they still have the same email addresses, they should get a notification of the message.

All the best,
Sarah
