Hiya Fred and welcome
It's always great to see a reply from those welcome emails....congratulations for leading the 55th brigade
!
As for the RAMSAY connection......don't think so. And I was hoping too!!! I rushed for my files and tore open the folder and searched for any clue that might link us and so far it's not looking hopeful
. This RAMSAY lot of mine (and I'm not sure I'm even related in any way but have several labeled photies!!) seem to have originated in County Antrim and hit Glasgow ca. 1848. Mine seemed to stick to the Milton district and Maryhill areas and from one family I've got lines of 4 sons who in turn all had large families. I've not found a single living rellie and I've not found a single Margaret....yet......
Thanks so much for asking though! Have you any other questions we might help you with??
Best wishes
Jean
PS...Nice to see Cumbernauld. Not only do I have an old Scottish Research internet classmate there (got you Ron
).....my McMeekin family were in Campsie in 1851 fresh from Ulster.

Re. Welcome and Query.
Hi! there Jean,
Thanks for your lovely message and I am sorry to say we weren't able to make a connection here this time.
My Margaret came from Argyll and I don't have much info. about her other than what I have from the marriage and three children, Robert Calderhead, Mary McIntyre, and Jacob.
Jacob was born in Carrickfergus, Antrim and died of scarlet fever, in the Belvedere Hospital, aged 4 years. They were living at 3, Shaftsbury Street then.
Best wishes,
Fred.

The welcome groups are created to allow the bulk-mail sending out of a welcome e-mail. These are sent out to those who have joined TalkingScot within the past few days and have not yet posted a message on the forum - to extend the welcome and encourage them to post their first message (they may be shy). As you have posted a message on your day of joining, you will not be on the list to receive the encouraging e-mail, but of course "welcome to TalkingScot" and please feel encouraged to post many more messages.mallog wrote:I'm new (that's the excuse) what's the "55th Welcome Group" ?
All the best,
