Post by utrecht003 » Wed Apr 05, 2006 7:51 pm

Alexander Macleod born illigiimate25 May1868, in Muckairn ,Argyll. Mother given as Kitty Macleod on birth cert.
His parents on his marr. cert. and death cert;Malcolm Macleod and Catherine Macleod, but I can't find anything on their actual marriage.or where Malcolm came from. would local parish records hold anything on the father and if so would it be available on the net

Hullo Urecht

Perhaps they never married.

Have you tried looking for Malcolm, Catherine (Kitty) or Alexander on the 1871 Census in Argyll? Can't see any sign of them in Muckairn, but might be worth looking at the few hits there are for these names in Argyll. As you know Census entries help with birthplaces.

Hi Utrecht, perhaps a quick look at the minutes of the kirk session at NAS in Edinburgh to see what is said about the birth and possible paternity. Sorted out my Argyllshire gr.grandfather´s paternity (at least on paper!).

Good hunting,
