NRH look up, Please.....

Post by delmarco » Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:37 pm

If anyone would perform this look up, I'd be grateful

I am trying to find famous footballer Jimmy McMenemy's marriage/death information, I know he was born 23 Aug 1880 and died in 1965. His parents information is below.

From a previous thread:

Karen,
James McMenemy & Ann Smith were married on the 20 Aug 1871 at West Calder, West Lothian, you did not find it because James surname is indexed under McMenimy, they were both residing at Cobbinshaw, West Calder. Ann`s parents were Daniel Smith (Labourer) & Mary Clark. John`s parents were John McMenimy & Mary McMenimy. James is aged 24, and Ann is either 16 or 18 (bad writing).

John

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!!!
Karen
Make it a great day!

Hi Karen,
Do you know i just couldn't find it today. :?
Even with a different age & spelling, so i don't know what i was doing wrong!
Maybe i didn't try enough variations; the snag with NRH or Park Circus is that, unlike SP
you can't use *wildcards* - which makes things a tad difficult at times....
(names must be exactly as GROS has them indexed)

ps, i need to finish off what i was getting today with another Park Circus visit next month,
and so if no one has got it for you by then, i'll have another look.

pps, according to this site Ref: F18/TM, Jimmy died 26 June 1965.
http://www.mcmenemy.org/2004/FamilyFragments.htm
Parents as James McMenemy & Bridget McCallum,
but now realised - you know of this page!
--
pps, edited to correct the year to 1965, not 1865; just written by habit - i tend to "live" in the 1800s.
And is it certain that Jimmy did die in Scotland?

Hi

I've had a wee bash at this one on SP and sorry to say I couldn't find anything either!!! Made me wonder if he was married south of the border?? I used a pretty broad range and wildcards too..........hmmmmm. I had found a Harry McMenemy listed on some football website with a DOB of abt 1918? Glasgow. Do you think I can find the same website again???!!!! I hate it when I do that!!!!! So I don't even know if it was the right Harry or the right DOB or anything!!!.... And here's me the total authority on football and all anyway.... . Ok...I expect to be run off the forum for even suggesting the marriage might have been in England....I'll just go back to my corner.....

Best wishes
Jean

Karen,

You might just be in luck, I note some researchers are having trouble finding a marriage for James in Scotland, however there is a marriage for James McMenemy on FreeBDM in Sept 1910 at Tynemouth in Northumberland to either Annie J. Edgar or Elizabeth Jackson. Some of the McMenemy family did live in that neck of the woods, because Lawrie McMenemy, James Great Nephew was born in South Shields (I think)
