1841 Census.....

Post by Heather Lyon » Sat Apr 08, 2006 9:47 pm

Can anyone help me with the 1841 Census? I have a James Lyon b Methlick 1825 and when searching the 1841 Census I have found a James Lyon Census place Ellon age 15 agricultural labourer and a James Lyon Tailor/journeyman Census place Methlick. My James Lyon would have been 15 at the time of the Census can anyone tell me if the age would have been rounded up or down.

Hi Heather,

Age 15 should say 15 in the 1841 census. See the instructions to the enumerators at http://www.talkingscot.com/censuses/census-1841.htm

All the best,
